FAQs

  • I guide men who struggle with strongholds of all kinds, with an emphasis on sexual sin, to become pillars of freedom in Christ.

  • I begin by asking the question Jesus asks: “Do you want to get well?” Very simply, that’s where we start.

Wherever you are in your struggle with strongholds, it begins at the moment you decide you want to be well.

We meet weekly for one hour. Meetings are structured to guide you from where you are to libertas (freedom).

  • Neither. Those words vaguely imply an incomplete picture of getting well – patching up, piecing together, salvaging and always a bit incomplete.

By contrast, the bible uses language that speaks of libertas - we're talking about freedom! This may sound like parsing words, but there’s more to it.

  • I am not a licensed counselor. I’m a Certified Professional Mentor™️ specializing in sexual addictions and strongholds.

One of the benefits of being a mentor is that the boundaries of self-disclosure, which exist between counselors and clients, don’t apply to my work. This means I often share the personal struggles and experiences I’ve been through, as appropriate, without violating ethical standards.

It also means I'm able to see clients from across the country via Zoom.

C.S. Lewis famously said, "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'"

  • Yes, I regularly receive and make referrals to licensed counselors and other providers.

  • Full-time clients are required to schedule and pay an agreed-upon monthly retainer fee in advance. Likewise for part-time, bi-weekly clients.

Others pay for sessions as they're scheduled.

Full-time and part-time clients are also required to purchase a couple of books that serve as discussion guides.

  • No, because this is not a licensed practice, it is not covered.

  • Clients receive the full benefit of all I’ve learned—and continue to learn— about stongholds and sexual sin since 1992.

In 1995, I began working full-time with Adult & Teen Challenge, helping men and women who struggle with addictions of all kinds.

I’ve also mentored dozens of men who’ve struggled with sexual issues. Finally, I’ve completed the requirements necessary to earn certification as a Certified Professional Mentor™️.

As we meet, difficult issues will come to the surface, and many will require a decision from you. The truth is that we value the things that have cost us more than those things that have come easy. When men have “skin in the game”, they’re more inclined to work through difficult times.

  • Full-time, weekly sessions and part-time, bi-weekly sessions are reserved one month at a time (2-5 sessions) on the Scheduling page.

At that time, you pay for all scheduled meetings in advance via Paypal.

For one-off meetings and special events, payment is made in the same way.

As mentioned in the above question “How is the fee determined?” this gives you “skin in the game” to attend all of our scheduled meetings.

  • Freedom is a marathon event, and the length is contingent on many factors. Some men are with me for a year or more while others begin by meeting weekly and are able to downshift to a part-time schedule, then eventually to a periodic check-in.

  • The commitment I ask is this: Say, “Yes” to the Lord before you know what His questions are, or how He’s leading. Then commit to weekly meetings at least one month in advance.

  • All clients are required to provide 30 days advance notice in writing before canceling. Any monthly recurring fees due during that time are expected to be paid in full unless otherwise agreed upon by you and your mentor.

  • As a helping professional, I adhere to any applicable federal, state and/or local laws that require me to report any current, ongoing criminal activity I become aware of, including sexual abuse, incest or rape, and the use, possession or distribution of child pornography, or any other criminal offenses currently in progress.

  • You can expect me to be authentic, transparent, non-condemning, encouraging, and when necessary, tough enough on you to keep us moving forward toward the goal of lasting libertas from strongholds and habitual sexual sin.
